Important Reminders

Parent Conferences - Thank you to those parents I have already had the opportunity to meet with and I look forward to meeting with the rest of you throughout the remainder of this week.  If you need to double check the time of your conference, the sign-up is still hanging up in the hallway.  Please be prompt.

Author Visit  - Tomorrow -  Wed. October 18th please join us at 4:00 in the gym to meet Meryl Danziger, author of "Sing It! A Biography of Pete Seeger."  This event is for all ages and is free.  Bring along friends and join us!  This event will kick off our year of Cooperation and The Country School's STEAM school-wide focus on the environment. Danziger will speak about the book and incorporate music into her presentation.
From Nurse Fucci:
Think Pink on Thursday, October 19th
Donate $1.00 to Dress Down in Pink to support The Breast Cancer Foundation. There will be a pink treat table after school at the TCS Invitational. All donated pink baked goods, treats, and drinks are greatly appreciated!! Sign up to bring in pink treats outside Nice Nurse's office. Thank you in advance for your support.  For clarification purposes, on dress down days children are welcome to wear jeans, T-shirts and other more casual clothing.

BUSY DAYS IN PreK:   We have been having so much fun and learning so many new things in PreK!  The children are spending time daily learning to recognize their own names as well as many of the names of their friends.  They are reading and identifying the jobs on the Helper’s Chart and checking it out each morning.  We have also been learning about patterns.  We have been focusing on the basic AB pattern and seeing where else we can find patterns in our classroom.  When this pattern is mastered, we will move on to the AAB pattern.  More to come...

TCS Open House - This fall our Open House is scheduled for Sunday, October 28th from 1:00 - 3:30.  If you know of anyone interested in learning more about TCS please send them our way!

Halloween Special Snack Sign-Up - The sign-up for our Halloween Celebration Special Snack is now posted just outside the classroom.  Please help us out if you are able to.

No School - This is just a reminder that TCS is closed to students on Wednesday, November 1st.

Flu Shots -  Please read and respond as needed to the following message from our school nurse Laura Fucci regarding flu vaccines for your children.  Thank you.
Dear Parents/Guardians,

Hope this note finds you all well.  I am writing today as a friendly reminder to
please submit documentation for the influenza vaccine as requested in an earlier correspondence letter.  Per state mandate, all children ages 24 months to 4 years
must have one dose of influenza administered each year between August 1st and December 31st (2 doses separated by at least 28 days required for those receiving flu vaccine for first time).  Documentation may be faxed, emailed, or delivered hard copy, please see contact information below.  Thanks so much for your prompt attention.

Warm Regards,

Laura

STEAM - We are enjoying spending time outside, familiarizing ourselves with the campus, and practicing our observational skills.  Yesterday, after sharing a story about trees and talking about the different parts of a tree, we revisited the apple tree in the Children’s Garden to observe changes since our last visit, and then continued on our observation walk on the Blue Trail (located behind the tennis courts) to see and talk about the roots, bark, trunk and leaves.  Be sure to ask your children about this walk and what they noticed.

Leadership:  TCS, through its Elmore Leadership Initiative, is committed to providing opportunities for all students (regardless of age) to participate in leadership roles.  In PreK we start with the basic.  The children will all have the chance to be the class news reporter, snack helpers, line leader, and flag holder - to name just a few.   In addition, we ask for volunteers daily to help in a variety of capacities, and encourage (but don’t require) everyone to be a  PreK class spokesperson at our Lower School Radio Show each Wednesday.

Planning Ahead:
Thanksgiving Vacation:  TCS will be closed Wednesday, November 23rd through Sunday, November 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday.   We wish you a restful and happy holiday.

Holiday Program:  Even though it is several weeks away, please put Friday, December 15th on your calendar.  This is the day of TCS Holiday Program.  All children participate and all parents are strongly encouraged to attend.  Please watch for additional information.
