March 26 - April 4
Welcome Back: Some of our favorite days in PreK are those when we have just returned to school after being away from each other for a couple of weeks. It is fun to see how excited the children are to be back together as they exchange stories, share in conversations, and become completely immersed in the play and learning that happens daily in PreK. We welcome your children back with open arms and trust that you all had a wonderful vacation.
Bridges: We jumped in with both feet upon our return and are now fully involved in our study of bridges. The children are becoming familiar with many different kinds of bridges and learning to identify the 3 main types - beam, arch, and suspension. We are encouraging the children to be observant as they travel around to see how many bridges they can find and if they can identify what type they are. Feel free to email photos of any fun and interesting bridges you and your children see in the weeks ahead. As we continue to collaborate with Mrs. Johnson in our STEAM class, the PreKers are enjoying their work on several bridge related activities and are expanding the associated vocabulary as they learn words such as deck, span, pier, foundation, cable, tower, anchor, caisson, and support. Be sure to ask them about the building of the Brooklyn Bridge as they were fascinated to hear all about John Roebling, his son Washington, and Washington’s wife Emily who were responsible for the design, implementation, and completion of that famous bridge.
Reading Buddy Talents: After months of watching the Fourth Graders present their talents to Reading Buddies, it is now almost time for the PreKers to present theirs!!!! Starting next week, we will help the children decide when they will share their talent. We will then send a note home in their blue bins – a week in advance – to let you know. Please remember that this is to be a FUN, NON-STRESSFUL activity! The children can choose to share or talk about a special talent (karate, ballet, gymnastics, soccer, art, music, etc.) or a special interest (trucks, animals, dolls, etc.) There is no one activity that is preferable over another, there are no minimum time requirements, and we are always right there to help and assist them in any way possible. Please feel free to let your child decide and use his or her imagination! Remember that they are 4 and 5 years old and there is nothing they can do that will be wrong!!!! If you have any questions, concerns, or are looking for some suggestions, please let us know.
PTA Sponsored Dance Night: Just a reminder that the TCS dance is this Friday night. I have copied the email from Victoria which was sent out last week that contains pertinent information. Please help support this wonderful event and come have some fun!
Hi PreK!
Break out your High tops, parachute pants, fingerless gloves and neon colors and get ready to bust a move at this years 80s themed dance on April 6, from 5:30-7:00!
This is a family event, $5 per person, $20 max per family. Parents are asked to stay but the costume and dancing are optional! Pizza and snacks will be provided but we need some volunteers and some water and dessert donations! If you can help with this please sign up at the sign up genius link below!

TSC School Musical: Please plan on coming to the annual TCS musical. This year the play is Alice In Wonderland and there are performances scheduled for both Saturday, April 21st and Sunday, April 22nd. Always a great experience, you won’t want to miss it!
TCS Spring Gala at Centerbrook Architects: As you are already aware, the TCS annual auction/fundraiser is coming up on Friday, April 28th at Centerbrook Architects. This event is always a lot of fun and certainly a worthy cause. We hope you will be able to attend. Come out and enjoy a great evening! The PreKers have all contributed to a wonderful piece of artwork that will be available for purchase at the auction and we think that you might want it to hang in your home! We also know that you have generously contributed to the Class Auction Basket and we thank you for that.
PreK Concert: Be sure to mark the date on your calendar as we are now busy preparing for our PreK Concert that is scheduled for Thursday, May 3rd at 8:30 AM. It will last about ½ hour and will take place in the gym. Parents, siblings, and extended family are all invited to attend. Please make it a point to be here for this very special occasion. You won’t be disappointed!!
